Terminology note: there are many forms of Airplane move, depending on the partners’ relative movement — either in the same direction or in opposite directions. A third form is the Tandem Airplane (self-explanatory). The taxonomy (naming convention) is not fully settled, so here is a simple overview:
- Partners moving in opposite directions: Front-to-Front Airplane or Opposite Airplane
- Partners moving in the same direction: Side-by-Side Airplane or Butterfly or Equal Airplane
- Third form is Tandem Airplane

Tutorial by Laura is focused on Butterfly (Front-to-Front Airplane) .
Hint: When Laura dances with Tim as a couple, the leader’s steps aren’t very clear. But a little later, Laura shows the leader’s steps herself. So leaders, watch the whole video!
